An exhibition piece made from some fantastic, locally sourced english cherry and ash. The sideboard was an exercise in subtle curvature with the whole front being slightly bowed. Solid timber was used throughout in the construction, with the exception of the doors which are made from layers of flexible plywood covered with veneers cut on a bandsaw. In a reversal of the normal procedure the doors were actually made first to establish the arc which all the other relevant components then followed. It was particularly challenging cutting integral drawer pulls into the curved drawer fronts!
